Editorial Policy

How we keep recommendations practical and fair

Security Camera Planner is intended to help owner-run sites move from uncertainty to a practical buying decision. This policy explains the standards we use for publishing scenario guides, planner outputs, checklists, and product paths.

Fit-first recommendations

We optimize recommendations for practical fit, not for a single brand outcome. Coverage priorities, retention needs, and site type come before merchant relationships.

Transparent commercial links

If a page includes affiliate or merchant links, we disclose that clearly. Commercial links are intended to speed up comparison, not to replace judgment or drive a predetermined result.

Ongoing review

We revise pages as our guides expand, new evidence gaps show up, or recommendation logic improves. Thin or outdated pages should be improved, consolidated, or removed.

What our content is designed to do

Help owner-run sites choose the right first camera setup faster.

Explain trade-offs between PoE, cloud-managed, and other common architecture paths.

Show coverage priorities, mistakes, and phased buying logic in plain language.

What our content is not designed to do

Replace a licensed on-site security design for complex or enterprise environments.

Guarantee that a single merchant or product is the only correct answer for every site.

Pretend that small-business planning is the same as home-security shopping.

How we handle affiliate and merchant incentives

Commercial relationships do not override scenario fit, budget fit, or retention reality.

If a product path appears because it is easier to buy, that convenience still has to match the planning logic.

We aim to keep marketplace paths and direct-research paths visible when both help the buyer compare options better.

How we update and correct content

We revise pages when recurring buyer mistakes, product assumptions, or recommendation gaps become clear.

We improve content that is too generic, too repetitive, or no longer aligned with current scenario coverage.

We expect our guides and resource pages to become more specific over time, not less.
